recent period of struggle in the studio amounted
to a personally dissatisfying body of work that made me feel like
I was going over safe and familiar ground. I questioned my need
to paint and detached for a bit so that I could dismantle all that
I had learned. Feeling the need to challenge myself, I discovered
my attraction to the invisible worlds within. I followed an intuitive
and process-oriented path that allowed me to listen to my painting
and let it steer me through the unknown while revealing previously
hidden parts of myself.
My interest evolved into pursuing the flow of energy between two
entities, such as the hidden world and myself, dreams and reality,
or the creative tension of eastern and western cultures inside me.
It is the communicative and transformative potential of this energy
that now captivates and guides my current painting into creating
new visual realities. |
